Today, the editor shares with you the adjustment and maintenance of the camless spring machine.


1、 The adjustment of the spring machine can be divided into individual adjustments of each mechanism and overall adjustments that connect each mechanism together. When adjusting the spring machine, the necessary tools such as wires, feeding rollers, various cams, mandrels, cutters, top rods, etc. should be selected and installed correctly, and then adjusted item by item according to the process requirements. The individual adjustments are as follows:


(1) Adjustment of spring outer diameter:

The main adjustment is to adjust the outer warp mechanism. When rolling a cylindrical spring, the top rod is fixed up and down or rotates to a suitable position. Only the inside or outside of the top rod needs to be adjusted, so there is no need to install a variable diameter cam, and the adjustment is relatively simple. When rolling conical springs and convex springs, a variable diameter cam must be installed.


The rolling conical spring starts from the small diameter end to the large diameter end, and the operation process of the variable diameter cam is from the highest point to the low point, which causes the top rod to continuously retreat, forming a small diameter circle to the large diameter circle. After the feeding process is completed and cut, the top rod returns to the position of the rolling head, starting a new cycle.


A. Grinding of the spindle:

The double top rod spring machine has a core shaft that only serves to cut the edge of the spring, so it is sometimes called a core knife, and its blade grinding is relatively simple. The outer diameter of the core shaft should be smaller than the inner diameter of the spring, but it should not be too small, otherwise it

will cause the spring to shrink during cutting. At the same time, the gap between the cutter and the spindle should not be too large.

B. Adjustment of top rod:
The top rod controls the diameter of the spring. When the top rod moves towards the core axis, the diameter of the spring becomes smaller, otherwise it becomes larger, and when the bottom rod moves towards the core axis, the diameter becomes larger, otherwise it becomes smaller.

(2) Adjustment of feeding length and total number of turns:

The feeding length depends on the number of teeth selected for the gear. For a spring coiling machine with incomplete gear feeding, the number of teeth of the incomplete gear is controlled, and the unfolding length of the spring is controlled.

The unfolded length of the spring (L)=(outer diameter of the spring - diameter of the steel wire) ×∏× Total number of turns.


After obtaining the required gear, install the flange (note that the gap position of the gear remains in the working position of the cutter) to obtain the required total number of turns.


(3) Adjustment of free height, pitch, and effective number of turns:

There are two types of spring length adjustment: internal push and external pitch: internal push, which adjusts the straight rod pushed inside to drive the ejector pin to push the spring open, thereby opening the pitch of the spring. It also uses the principle of a lever to push the straight rod and open the pitch, and the length of the rod push can be adjusted by the screw below the jump rod driven by the cam; The outer pitch is driven by the cam to drive the pitch knife, and the ejector spring opens the spring.


The free height and pitch are adjusted by the adjusting bolt below the pitch knife. Adjust the screw downwards to shorten the height and reduce the pitch. On the contrary, the length and pitch increase, and the number of effective turns is adjusted by the variable pitch cam. The larger the working surface of the cam's high point, the more effective turns increase, and on the contrary, it decreases.


(4) Adjustment of tightening force between support rings:

When rolling compression springs, it is required to have both ends tightly wound together, and there is a certain requirement for the tightening length, otherwise it will affect the working characteristics of the spring. A certain tightening force is also required for the tightly wound parts to prevent end gaps. When rolling tension springs with initial tension, it is also required that there is no gap between each coil. Both of the above situations require adjusting the tightening force of the merging part.


When adjusting the tightening force of the spring machine, first check whether the wire is in a straight line so that the steel wire can pass through smoothly, then adjust the angle of the ejector pin. The upper ejector pin rotates inward and the tightening force increases, otherwise there is a gap. But the tightening force should not be too large to prevent the diameter from increasing when it touches the wire board.


(5) Adjustment of cutting mechanism:
The cutting mechanism uses a vertical cutting method for the cutting blade to work simultaneously with the core, completing the cutting of the spring product. The gap between the cutting blade and the cutting plane of the core shaft should be 0.05mm-0.1mm. Excessive gap can cause cutting burrs, and the cutting plane should pass through the center of the spring coil. Otherwise, cutting will cause deformation of the end coil or unstable size of the yellow center of the coil. When rolling a spring with a large winding ratio, the core shaft size can be increased to allow for simultaneous support of the spring coil.

2、 Selection and reasonable use of spring machine tooling:

The tooling of the camless spring machine mainly includes feeding rollers, guide plates, top rods, cams, mandrels, cutting knives, pitch knives, incomplete gears, etc. Whether the tooling selection is reasonable will directly affect the quality of the coil.


3、 Precautions:
1. Is the rotation of the electric motor consistent with the rotation of the machine sprocket.
2. The first tooth of an incomplete gear should be half a tooth lower than the second tooth as a transitional tooth, otherwise it will collide.
3. Before starting the camless spring machine, the handwheel must be turned to check if it operates normally.
